Thumper
CHRISTCHURCH - Thumper: desexed, vaccinated, male Mini Lop cross, approx 2 years old
Looking for a loving home for my boy Thumper. This absolutely breaks my heart to write, but after losing his bonded partner Nugget in recent weeks, I need to start looking for the right home for Thumper. He’s a sweet but cheeky boy with lots of personality. He’s not a pick-up-and-cuddle rabbit and isn’t huge on pats, but he absolutely adored Nugget and was such a devoted little husband to her. He truly thrives with rabbit companionship and would do best bonded to another desexed rabbit.
He was originally adopted through the SPCA and is microchipped. When he was assessed at the SPCA he was checked for poor dental alignment (common in lops) and his teeth were completely fine.
He receives the Filavac vaccination and is due soon for his annual booster. I’m happy to have this updated prior to rehoming. His regular vet clinic is At The Vets.
Thumper is calm, curious, and a little cheeky. While he’s not overly affectionate with humans, he bonds deeply with other rabbits and really flourishes when he has a companion. I don’t want him living alone long-term.
He’s the perfect husband, and would fit well with a confident and outgoing desexed female rabbit. He definitely let nugget take the lead in there relationship and would follow her around like a little duckling, constantly trying to cuddle into her while she was on her rabbit missions.
He is litter trained. He loves toys and destroying cardboard boxes and toilet paper roll toys. His favourite foods are dandelion, mesclun mix, small bits of carrot, and some banana as a treat. He eats burgees pallets and treats.
Due to my rental situation and plans to travel next year, I’m unable to get him another companion or provide the long-term setup he truly deserves, which is why I’m making this incredibly hard decision.
Housing & Requirements
Indoor home preferred (or very secure, predator-proof outdoor setup)
Daily space to exercise that meets minimum housing requirements
Hay-based diet (unlimited hay, fresh greens, limited pellets)
Experienced rabbit owner preferred, or someone willing to learn the craziness of rabbit ownership
Must be willing to bond him properly and slowly with another desexed rabbit
I am in no rush. Finding the right home is the most important thing. I will be asking questions and would like to see his future setup to ensure it meets proper rabbit care standards.
Included in the rehome
Litter trays
Hidey house
Carrier
Remaining food
Any other rabbit supplies I currently have
