This information is provided by a customer who has found a Green Goo/New Skin combination really helpful with her Guinea Pig’s feet. The same approach has successfully been used by other clients for early stage sore hocks in Rabbits -
One of my guinea pigs has troublesome feet despite being on multiple layers of soft bedding. Their enclosure has fleece pads with bobble bath mats over the top. This is doubled in their hidey houses plus they also have hay in them. I have tried Paw Paw ointment, Flamazine cream, Sudocrem and WW Green Goo. I have also used New Skin over the top once the cream has soaked in.
The Green Goo and New Skin combo has worked the best.
We apply both products three times a week and her feet are much better.
I apply the GG first and rub it in. I then apply a bit more and give her lots of scritches while it soaks in. After about 10 minutes I rub the rest in and apply a layer of New Skin. This drys quickly provided the GG is soaked in. I generally do 2 or 3 layers of New Skin provided she is happy to continue with scritches and pats.
Our other piggie doesn't seem to have the same problem so I think just something we will always need to manage with her.
